ALTERthought is hiring: Strategic Business Analyst

-OVERVIEW-
The SBA consulting position serves as a strategic customer liaison and will provide business systems analysis; use case and software requirements development, process and workflow engineering; functional analysis; quality assurance services for various strategic product development initiatives; and enterprise analysis planning support.

All projects occur in a cross-functional team setting. He or she helps support ALTERthought’s core values of Technology and Innovation through forward-thinking business-technology frameworks. The SBA also supports ALTERthought’s core value of Customer Commitment through professional strategic business analysis, software feature planning, and customer relationship development.

-JOB DESCRIPTION-
ALTERTHOUGHT INTERNAL
Work closely with the executive team including the CTO, Chief Scientist, and President to develop and help drive the following (1) R&D opportunity assessment scorecards (2) Prototype development process (3) R&D organization design (4) Analyses, requirements documentation, and supporting artifacts for the build out of ALTERthought’s own software-related business concepts (5) Refinement/Re-engineering of ALTERthought’s Planix TM software development estimation tool (6) Analysis and jumpstart of potential ALTERthought subsidiaries/spinout concepts (7) Analysis and pursuit of consulting services strategies.

CLIENT PRODUCT/SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
The SBA will provide broad business expertise and play a key customer contact role in the development of leading edge distributed/e-business infrastructure and systems. He or she will: lead the analysis of customer user roles, processes, dynamic analytical engine applications, and infrastructure needs; aid in developing company and client information technology strategy; lead the identification and modeling of user/role/trading partner business information/integration needs; contribute to current-state business process analysis activities, including process modeling and the identification of key problems, product opportunities, and process improvement opportunities; contribute to future-state Business Process Design activities, including process modeling for cross-functional operational process flows.
He/she will also collaborate with Technical Analysis & Marketing Teams to: develop of feature conceptualization and product strategy; assist in the development of product release plans that identify software development and process improvement efforts over time; assist in the establishment of core IT infrastructure at multiple physical and logical layers including capacity planning, technology assessment and recommendation, deployment, monitoring, and management

USABILITY RELATED
Work with Usability Engineer to integrate - where appropriate - the user experience design and conceptual user frameworks with the user interface design; contribute to activities for the creation of the user experience vision, application concept storyboards, and low-fidelity prototypes; contribute to conceptual application prototype activities; facilitate cross-functional work-sessions and conduct user interviews.


-JOB REQUIREMENTS-

This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of software engineering/IT/distributed application experience with a minimum of 3 years business systems analyst role. Experience in corporate portals, voice applications, and high availability/high volume transactional system development is a plus. Experience in accelerated development a strong plus. Demonstrated experience utilizing formal process engineering methods to deliver information service and/or software application is required.
